First day underway

We left Ipswich, UK, around 09:30 on Tuesday, 7 October. It felt like we had run out of preparation tasks and provisions to acquire and store. The forecast was for light winds and light seas. Mostly, we motored and occasionally motor-sailed. We are headed to Guernsey to complete the transfer of title of the boat from Oyster to Turleys. From there, we will head to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria – about a 10-day sail. We are debating stopping in Spain for a fuel top-off, but the recent reports of Orca rudder-eating activities make that stop a bit less attractive.

We are on a four-hour on, four-hour off watch system, which I am not yet accustomed to as such this post will be more pictures than text.

In addition to this website/blog you can locate the boat at this link. https://forecast.predictwind.com/tracking/display/SV-WELCOME/ Our position is updated once an hour while we are underway

Hello Donna… Pam here… just began my “journey” with you and look forward to
keeping track of your trip. Jay is a consummate journeyman. I am thinking of you all on the high seas and wish you safe travels. Do Orcas really eat rudders, even while the boat is moving?! Love, Pam in Sudbury, MA

So fun to see pix of you finally being under way! The Pasta looks good. So does the burrito & the veggie stew with toast & melted cheese. Glad to see you are all staying in shape with the TRX. xx Berit, Betsy & Brandy
